NYE in London

New Year's Eve was spent in London with the Camden crew, even Michelle made it !  Mike stayed until the 3rd of January, and I stayed until the 7th.  We mostly just hung out with everyone, but Mike and I also did a bit of sightseeing.  On NYE we went to the bar Ant works at, The Colonel Fawcett, which is right next to the flat, for a 90s video-game themed party (or 'fancy dress' party as they call it in London) lol.  It was a great night of dancing to 90s music :D  The next day we got an American brunch at a resto that I forget the name of.  They had bloody mary's in pitchers lol.  And your typical American breakfast and lunch dishes.  They also have respectable collection of 'onesies' at the flat, so we had a onesie day.
I went back to London from the 17-20th for Misch's birthday ! We went to Paramount, which is a bar at the top of a skyscraper with amazing views of London.  Amazingly delicious and expensive cocktails.  We also saw and met the band To Kill A King (well I met, Ant and Misch already knew them).  Their show was great!  Amazing people.  On the night of Misch's actual birthday we went to a club called The Nest.  During the day Michelle, Ant, Kosch and I went to a 'Mexican restaurant' where we ate enchiladas and fajitas.  We washed them down with tequila, Coronas, Pacificos and Misch had a birthday margarita, frozen of course :)  It was the London version of Taco Tuesday.  It was snowing outside!  We were so excited it was finally snowing!!  Normally just thinking about Mexican food makes me miss California, but it was impossible to be homesick around Ant, Kosch and Misch.  Such a good day.

Kristen Tranny !

Back in December (14th) it was Kristen's Last Weekend in France!  I went down to celebrate her last night with her and her friend's in Biarritz.  It was super fun and I was sad to see Kristen go, love her.  We are always in France at the same time !  However, she is back already haha, she was living in Paris for a couple months, but is currently living in Biarritz again.  All good.  I visited her in Paris the first week of March(4-10th), and again in Biarritz the last weekend of April (25-29th).  I'm just trying to keep track of my life here, this is not at all interesting to read...have a picture

Parents come to visit!

As my parents are retired this year, they were able to come visit me !  They were on a little eurotrip, visiting Italy with their friends from Norway.  I think they came from Oct 13-17th.  I showed them around Toulouse and we went on little road trips to Cordes sur ciel, Albi and Rocamadour.  Cordes sur ciel is a really cool town because it's so high up !  (Ciel means sky) Albi hosts a huuuge cathedral.   But, Rocamadour was my favorite because it's a city built into a mountain !  Très cool.  Our last night we went out to dinner with Nihal at Gouillages?  I don't remember the name lol, but it was deeelicious.  When Mike came to visit, I took him there as well.  My dad got the region specialty Cassoulet, my mom got salmon, and I got duck, yum !  It was a short, but sweet trip and I was sad to have them leave.

CAMDEN CRAWL 2011

I've decided it's high-time for a post about Camden Crawl.
Camden Crawl was an adventure of a lifetime.  It took place the 30 April - 1 May, 2011 and was one of the most fun weekends of my life, thus far.  I love London, I love everything about it, especially Camden.  If I could afford to live there, I would.  A festival in Camden (Camden Crawl) therefore, could only be awesome.
The lovely Misch visited me in Paris for a week this past March.  Michelle's flight home left from London so we decided to spend the weekend there with 2 guys we had met in Santa Barbara the year before.  Dan and Ant!  We had a blast with them in SB, but they weren't there for very long so I can't say we were the best of friends yet.  But we would be soon!  After a little fiasco where Dan and Ant both managed to give us the wrong phone numbers to call and meet up with them :p we finally found them at the bus station in London.  They took us to their friend's place (Tom) where we'd be staying for the weekend.
Needless to say we had an epic weekend!

Tom lived with three other other guys and everyone was so amazing.  It doesn't happen too often (although more than I would expect), but sometimes when you meet people, you immediately click.  This was one of those times.  Such an amazing weekend.  Dan walked around in a Scooby outfit for most it.  He was famous.  Throughout the weekend  our hosts kept mentioning this Camden Crawl festival that they would be attending in a month.  I decided I would definitely be back for it.  It was right after my teaching contract ended in Paris, perfect timing.  Misch was bummed she wouldn't be able to make it, but 2 weeks later she decided she would fly back again so she could make it as well.  Best decision ever!!

Camden Crawl included stumbling around from venue to venue, drinking beers and lots and lots of dancing.  The line-up:

Obviously we didn't get see all of these bands, but I'll put them here to remember them in the future.  My favourite shows were TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS, Peggy Sue, Wolf Gang, Beth Jeans Houghton, Cate Le Bon and Ghostpoet.  Besides dancing around to great music, which at the time was  mostly new to me, (Ant was our music guide) there were random activities set up.  For example:  taking pictures in the Ray Ban car, crawling through some creepy haunted rooms and what I think was Shakespeare rap?
Anywho it was one of the best weekends with some of the best people I've ever met.
Here are some of the photos:

And here are some of my favourite songs from the weekend:
Day by day - Beth Jean Houghton (which I can't find on youtube)
Lions in Cages - Wolf Gang (which I've already posted in the music section of this blog)
I also already posted Garden - Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs so I'll post Household Goods
Miss me when I'm Gone - Lulu and the Lampshades
Ghostpoet ft ROX.  You should definitely check out more ROX, she is fabulous.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs was the most anticipated performance by our group and they exceeded our expectations.  The guy looks like this
and this
at different times in the show.  He is Indian Chief meets Stegosaurus.

I would fail if I tried to describe how high everyone felt when they played Gardens so I won't.  But, try to think of a moment where something you have been so looking forward to is finally realized.  And then multiply that by sex.
